RECENT PROJECTS
This past month, our club has been working hard to prepare for our two biggest events of the year: the Jenkintown Sunset 5K Run and the Special Athletes Basketball Tournament! Both events are now open for registration, sponsorships, and volunteers. Read on for more details.
We’re also proud to share that the Kiwanis Club of Jenkintown has been named the 2025 recipient of the Munn and Mimi Steelman Legacy Award, recognizing our club’s dedication to service and support of the Abington Aktion Club. We are deeply honored to be part of this meaningful legacy.
This past month we were delighted to host The Center at Hampton House and Storybook Musical Theater as part of our on-going speaker series and learn about the meaningful work these organizations provide to the community.

Speaker- Dr. Brandi Scombordi-Raghu OD-Looking Out for Kids
Dr Scombordi-Raghu oversees and assists with vision screenings at approximately 53 schools in Philadelphia and other school districts in Pennsylvania. As a part of the program, when a student fails a vision screening, the nurse sends home a note recommending them for an eye exam. If the parent can’t get the child an eye exam, a team from TEI goes to the school with the Big Red Bus, the University’s traveling eye clinic, to perform eye exams. Or they are bussed to TEI for care. After the exam, students are given two pairs of glasses; one to keep at school and the other to bring home with them.
