Our members visit the nursery once a month to read to the children and bring stories to life. This program falls under Young Children Priority One (YCPO), an ongoing community service program of Kiwanis International that addresses the needs of children age 0–5, as well as Kiwanis’ Read Around the World program, which focuses on sharing the joy of books with young children.
Recently, we’ve introduced a Book Box at the nursery—restocked regularly through our Book Train Project. Parents are welcome to browse and take home books their children will love, helping to nurture a lifelong love of reading.
Each December, we celebrate the season with a pizza party and a special visit from Santa. This long-standing event was one of our club’s earliest activities. We also bring a gift for each child to take home.

Alessandro Reale, a resident of Glenside and a 2007 graduate of Abington Senior High School, is an award-winning children’s and fantasy author with ten titles to his name.
“The children’s books are about coping with mistakes, being kind to others, ignoring bullies, understanding anxiety and depression, and other topics that I wish I had access to when I was a kid,” he said. “I try to put them in a message that children can understand.”

Storybook Musical Theatre is dedicated to the cultural enrichment and education of children and their families. We will introduce and help them to develop a lifelong appreciation for theater through adaptations of folk tales and children's literature. We strive to stimulate young imaginations as the stories are being brought to life on stage.
